Daniel Gillway is a STR in special care dentistry working across Oxfordshire providing a range of dental services for adults with additional needs. He has worked across a variety of secondary care settings and he has a particular interest in treatment with IV sedation.

*This webinar is suitable for entire dental team, will be delivered via MS Teams and an email with joining instructions and a short a guide to remote learning will be sent to you at least 24 hours before the course starts. Please log in early to check your IT supports MS Teams and check that your microphone is off but your camera is on (you can upload a background of your choice for privacy) signing in using your Deanery registered name helps us to confirm your attendance. Logging onto to Webinar will be from 13:05. Aims

Delegates will gain a better understanding of capacity and consent in practical terms, and the relevance to special care dentistry.

Objectives

Review basics of capacity and consent.

Discuss how to assess a special care patient and their complexity.

Explore complex management by looking case studies, examples to include learning disability patient, patients with complex medical histories, management of an older patient and a phobic or mental health patient.
