Understand the aims of endodontic treatment and how this may influence our strategic approach to treatment

To be competent in hand and rotary preparation with tips on how to prevent file fracture

A review of obturation to include both cold and warm techniques

Discussion on the restoration of a root filled tooth

Learning outcomes

Following this course learners should be able to:

1. Assess and evaluate whether a tooth can be root treated and restored, so as to increase endodontic success.

2. Effectively prepare root canals for obturation, and relate theory and practice so as to improve predictability of clinical treatment and outcomes when saving the tooth with root treatment.

3. Practise obturation of root canals, and relate theory and practice so as to improve predictability of clinical treatment and outcomes in endodontic treatment.

4. Evaluate the clinical risk when deciding whether endodontics is appropriate or not
