DescriptionStaff having any contact with children should receive child protection training every 3 years, as a minimum.
Additional informationThe aim of this course is to meet this requirement, and to clarify the roles and responsibilities of the whole dental team in promoting the safety and well-being of children at risk of abuse.

Requirements of the GDC and CQC will be met by this course.

Course Objectives :

1. To provide information about the different forms of child abuse and neglect , including what constitutes child maltreatment

2. To discuss how to be an advocate for a child or young person

3. To explain the potential impact of a parent/carer’s physical and mental health on the well-being and development of a child or young person, including possible speech, language and communication needs

4. To explain the impact of domestic violence, the risks associated with the internet and online social networking, the importance of children’s rights in the safeguarding/child protection context, and key statutory and non-statutory guidance and legislation

5. To provide training in best practice in documentation and record-keeping, and data protection issues relating to information sharing for safeguarding purposes
