Sonia Jones RDH CFET, GDC number 5754 is a Dental Hygienist in Torquay. She delivers CPD, including BLS and AED skills, to dental care professionals across the country. She also examines for the NEBDN and NCFE.

Aims

The aim of this course is to update learners on their knowledge of the most common disease in the western world, dental caries, and to provide information on dental anomalies that may be seen in a patient’s mouth.

Objectives

 1. To review the current thinking on caries and prevention of caries

 2. To examine the signs and symptoms of caries and dental anomalies seen in a patients mouth

 3. To discuss preventative measures and treatments.

1.Describe and summarise the key points relating to the signs and symptoms of caries.

2.Recognise Dental Anomalies in a patient’s mouth.

3.List the progression of caries, describe the ionic see saw and list the different types of caries and relating factors

4.Describe cariogenic theories and preventive measures for caries
