DescriptionThis course meets UK GDC verifiable CPD requirements in radiography and radiation protection. It does not satisfy the IRMER requirement for dentists or radiography qualified Dental Care Professionals.

Nikki teaches DCPs at Bristol Dental Hospital delivering pre and post registration training.

She holds the post registration qualifications in Oral health Education, Dental Sedation and Radiography along with teaching, assessment and management qualifications.

Nikki is currently Chairperson of the NEBDN Dental Radiography Committee, and a member of the NEBDN panel of examiners. She is also the author of The Basic Guide to Dental Sedation Nursing and is currently working on various other books to advance the knowledge and skills of DCPs.

Aims
  1. Know the principal components of the Ionising Radiations Regulations 1999 and Ionising Radiations (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2000
  2. Have a fundamental understanding of radiation physics, radiobiology and radiation risks
  3. Be able to protect patients and staff from unintended, excessive or incorrect exposures in dental radiology
  4. Know how to ensure the consistent quality of radiographs
