Additional informationThe course will cover three specific areas.
„X Legal and ethical issues (First half of the morning)
„X Complaints handling (Second half of the morning)
„X Basic radiography (Afternoon session) (N.B. This section is not the IRMER training for people who take x-rays, but will count towards the 5 GDC compulsory hours for DCP¡¦s who do not take x-rays).
Intended Audience: All DCPs ¡VDental Nurses, Therapists, Hygienists, Technicians

Jo Russell, RDN Dip DPM Cert Ed MIFL LCGI, GDC 10942, has 26 years in dentistry from nursing to area management for a corporate looking after 16 practices in London and the south. She spent nearly 7 years in the Royal Navy¡¦s dental branch and after graduating from teaching, took the NEBOSH Certificate in Health and Safety, passing with distinction. Jo is a popular and enthusiastic teacher of CQC, practice management, health and safety at work, radiation protection, clinical governance, complaints, legal and ethical issues and communication. She currently spends her time assessing dental nurses for their Diploma, teaching, providing CQC compliance for dental practices and helping practices to become compliant with a hand holding consultancy service

  1. Be able to act within the legal guidelines and regulations and issues surrounding confidentiality, consent and raising concerns
  2. Be able to look at the 8 stage complaints process, the Dental Complaints Service and how the CQC want us to handle complaints including the paperwork we need
  3. Be able to discuss radiation physics, quality of radiographs including audits and practical protection for radiation
