Mary Gibson GDC 58216;is a specialist periodontist of over 20 years experience. She achieved her fellowship and masters degrees while working at the Eastman and Royal Dental Hospitals. She has also worked as a visiting lecturer at Harvard Dental School, USA. Mary has also worked in corporate practice for GlaxoWellcome and in private practice previously in London and for the last 12 years in Winchester. She was awarded the prestigious Sir Wilfred Fish prize in 1991 for her study on crown lengthening surgery. Her interests are in cause related periodontal therapy, the host response and the interface between periodontics and restorative dentistry. Phil qualified from King's London in 1978. He joined the RAF after qualifying and was a general dental practitioner until taking an MSc in Periodontology in 1992, after which he was RAF Adviser in Periodontology and ran the RAF School of Dental Hygiene. After leaving the RAF he lectured at the Eastman Dental Institute and worked in several specialist practices. For 10 years he worked alongside Bernie Kieser at the Periodontal Practice in London and now practices at the Briars Dental Centre in Newbury. He is on the GDC's Specialist Register. He has been an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of England (MGDS) and is serving his third term on the Council of the British Society of Periodontology, before becoming President in 2015/16. Phil has had papers published in the Journal of Clinical Periodontology, Dental Update, Dental Practice and Independent Dentistry and has been on the editorial boards of Dental Health and Primary Dental Care. He is a Module editor on the eDen project for e-Learning for Healthcare and is co-editing a new perio textbook for undergraduates. He lectures throughout the UK, and is responsible for the perio component of the FGDP(UK) Diploma in Restorative Dentistry in both London and Manchester. He has been a contestant on Radio 4’s ‘Counterpoint’ music quiz but didn’t do very well. |
