DescriptionThe overall aim of this course is to help learners understand the principles of current GDC publications on standards for dental professionals, so as to enable them to behave in an ethical and professional manner at all times.
Additional informationObjectives :

1. To review the current GDC standards of conduct, performance and ethics that govern dental professionals.

2. To examine the principles of ethical behaviour relevant to dentistry, including honesty, confidentiality, personal and professional integrity, and appropriate moral values.

3. To discuss the personal and professional implications of failing to adhere to GDC Standards , professionally relevant laws and ethical guidance.

This course is intended for the entire practice team :
Dental Nurses, Dentists, Receptionists, Dental Hygienists

  1. Describe and summarise the key issues relating to conduct, performance and ethics, in accordance with GDC Standards, professionally relevant laws and ethical guidance, so as to meet the GDC’s 9 core ethical principles of practice at all times
  2. Demonstrate ability in the decision-making process, so as to integrate ethical and professional accountability into dentistry
  3. Describe the implications of failing to adhere to GDC Standards and legislation, and reflect on situations where dental professionals have been removed from the register
