DescriptionAfternoon only This course is for Dental Care Professionals only, and intended as a refresher on this important core subject. It offers 3 hours CPD on Dental Radiography, and runs at the same time and venue as GDPs, Therapists, Hygienists (and Dental Nurses with Radiography qualification) on the IR(MER) course, to enable a Team Day.

Jo Russell has over 24 years of experience in the dental profession and has acquired considerable expertise in all areas of the business of dentistry. She spent 7 formative years in the Dental Branch of the Royal Navy, was appointed to Area Practice Manager for a dental corporate and then started her own consultancy and training business in Portsmouth. Jo holds a Certificate in Education and the NEBOSH National Certificate in Health and Safety. She is a popular and enthusiastic teacher of practice management, health and safety at work, radiation protection, clinical governance, human resources, marketing and advertising, reflective practice and customer service.

Aims
  1. To update DCP’s in radiography and radiation protection, for optimum patient safety. Recognise film faults and know how to prevent them.
  2. Appreciate their role within IRR 1999 and IR(ME)R 2000. Understand the role of Employers, Referrers, Practitioners and Operators.
  3. To provide an update on legal and ethical issues in relation to the GDC guidelines. Discuss the difference between implied and expressed consent and how to raise concerns
  4. Delegates will be able to act and adhere to GDC guidelines and feel confident in their ability to work within the law.
