Intended Audience: Dental Nurses with an interest in Conscious Sedation

Nikki Rogers: GDC 107582 Dental Nurse Tutor for pre and post registration training at Bristol Dental Hospital, Chairperson for NEBDN Radiography post qualification. Teaching the Dental Nurse Sedation and Radiography post qualification at Bristol.
Nikki Rogers first qualified as a DSA in 1982 and holds NEBDN Nat. Cert, and post qualifications in Sedation, Radiography and OHE. As a Dental Nurse Tutor at Bristol Dental Hospital she is involved in pre and post registration training and qualified CMI Cert Management, FAETC and V1 NVQ Assessor/Verifier. Chair of NEBDN Radiography post qualification and winning DDU Tutor of the year in 2010, she is a busy wife, mother, and author enthusiastically supporting DCPs in their further education.

Aims
  1. Dental Nurses (who assist with sedated patients) will have refreshed/updated theoretical knowledge on the current legislation associated with dental sedation, with updates on Oral, Inhalation and Intravenous sedation.
  2. Understand why and how we obtain clinical observations from patients, why and how we monitor patient’s vital signs.
  3. Recognise what is a normal and abnormal reading during monitoring and recognise the equipment used for monitoring patients.
