Aims

Aims:

To enable inter team education and training off site, for the purpose of improved patient care and assessment of quality of provision of care within the Bucks Trust OMFS Orthodontic and restorative dental department.

Objectives

Objectives:

· To discuss in depth a number of MDT cases within the dept where pathway has been disrupted. To allow for learning from mistakes and education on minimising risk in future such cases.

· To identify variation in timekeeping and impact on clinical efficiencies within the department, to improve staff understanding and consider ways to improve time management.

· To identify ways in which the department can consider the wider environmental impact of clinical time and 3 site working for the benefit of our patients and the environment.

· To discuss overall management issues within the department, Update IPC knowledge in the new stage of Covid recovery and identify any urgent items of patient pathway care that need addressing. To enable inter team knowledge and support and team build morale. To identify ways to maximise efficiency and care of our patients

· To consider the impact of AB prescribing, the impact on patients post op infection rate, cost implications and consider update to the Dept SOP. To understand the impact of Abx prescribing to our patients

· To interpret the pathways leading to patients listing for GA day case with impacted teeth, the importance of MDT planning and documentation and to identify ways to strengthen the pathways and improve MDT planning of such cases.

· To update the department on the BDA was not brought tool kit, and adapting this to the secondary care setting. To make clinicians aware of the ongoing regional audit and proposals and to be onguard for children not brought to appointments in light of safeguarding concerns.

Learning outcomes

· To update the department on the proposed audit to improve communication and documentation for MDT cases that are shared with OUH hospitals, ensuring documentation of OP notes, after care and discharge summaries are included in the Bucks notes in a timely fashion. To consider timeframes to start audit and present findings.

· To discuss interesting cases to enable MDT discussion on treatment planning and enable team wide learning.
