| Description | This course is designed to increase the understanding of Dental Implants and the reasons why they fail and discuss materials and maintenance programmes to ensure long term implant survival. The day will be very hands-on , but to include lectures and discussion time and focus on demonstrations using some of the latest materials and instruments in implant maintenance. We will look at the evolution and design and surface characteristics of Dental Implants.Overview of of Implant placement techniques and factors that affect the osseointegration of Implants. Probing techniques, instrument selection, debridement protocols and soft tissue management. |
| Additional information | In the afternoon , there will be a hands-on workshop on how to sharpen your instruments and perfect the angle and edge in minutes. Also to retain them with a few seconds regular care. Intended Audience:This course is suitable for Hygienists and Therapists. Donna Schembri: Donna is a hygienist with over 20 years experience working clinically between two practices in Yorkshire and Lancashire. She’s trained as a professional Dental Mentor and has the PG Cert in mentoring from the FGDP. She is a DCP board member for the FGDP Yorkshire Division and has an editorial advisory role for the Dental Hygiene Therapy awards.She lectures on Hygiene and Therapy related topics including implant care ,team working and professional development. Paul Harrison PhD MBA BSc: Paul is the owner of Swallow Dental Supplies . He has an interest in bone regeneration and Dental Implantology.He is involved in the development of regeneration products that do not contain animal tissue and lectures internationally on this subject. He is currently the chair for the responsible person training development programme for the European Directive on the community code relating to medicinal products for human use related to wholesale distribution. He is a past Director of Medilink a company dedicated to the development of the medicinal industry in the UK. |
