DescriptionThis course will provide fundamental information about safeguarding children in dental practice for staff who may be in a position to identify concerns about maltreatment. It meets the requirement for refresher training at least every 3 years for this target group.

Dr Catherine Powell PhD, is a freelance Safeguarding Children Consultant and a visiting lecturer at the University of Southampton. She is a trustee of the British Association for the Study and Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect. Catherine’s portfolio career has embraced clinical practice, clinical leadership, academia and national policy. She was a member of a working group for the Munro Review of Child Protection. Her research activity includes work on Early Help and Secondary Prevention, Child Death and Serious Case Reviews. Catherine has published and presented her work to a variety of professional audiences in the UK and elsewhere and is the author of two safeguarding children text books for health professionals.
