DescriptionThis is rare and exciting hands on experience for the whole dental team which aims to increase the understanding of dental implantology for all. Indications and contraindications will be outlined, with clear guidance of how, when and what to refer. The biomechanical and biological principles of implant rehabilitation will be defined, starting with the importance of atraumatic extraction techniques that preserve the bony socket walls and ending with the relative new concept of full arch reconstruction using only 4 implants, known as the ‘all in 4 technique”.
Additional informationAdvice on ‘Implant career development’, how and what to charge patients and the mediolegal/GDC requirements will also be covered. Perhaps most importantly the intricacies of implant maintenance and the methodologies of managing peri-implant disease will also be thoroughly explained. All aspects of the patient journey from patient education through to implant maintenance will also be covered in an afternoon parallel session.

This course is intended for the entire practice team.

Dr Wright qualified in 2000. He has been a principal partner of the Glencairn Group of Practices since 2003. He completed the Trafford One Year Implant Course in 2004. He has also completed his Diploma in Implant Dentistry, and gained his MSc Dental Implantology in 2010. Dr Wright lectures extensively for Straumann, Astra, the ITI, and the Mersey Deanery. He has a resident lectureship at Manchester and Salford University, but also lectures on the MSc courses at Cardiff, and Sheffield. Dr Wright has won awards for his research papers, is the best young dentist NW 2009, is a keen mentor, hosts the North West implant study club, and is the Education Director for the ADI.

Dr Speechley qualified with BDS Liverpool 1976, and became principal of Glencairn Dental Practice 1977. He became a diplomat of the Royal College of Surgeons’ Edinburgh with DMI RCS Ed in 2003, and gained a Postgraduate Diploma in Implant Dentistry from Salford University in 2009, having previously completed the Trafford one-year course with in 2005. He gained an MSc in implant dentistry in 2010. Dr Speechley is a registered mentor with the ADI, with a wide experience of mentoring, and lectures at a number of universities on MSc programmes, including Manchester, Sheffield, Salford and Cardiff, and has recently been made honorary lecturer at Salford University on the Masters Course, with both lecturing and mentoring roles. Dr Speechley is also the northwest England representative of the ADI Committee.

The day will be supported by three implant trained and experienced DCP’s.
