| Description | This will be the sixth new hands on restorative course that Professor Millar has brought to Milton Keynes. This will not be a repetition of previous courses but a well constructed educational follow on, which can also be enjoyed as a standalone course |
| Additional information | The course covers the management of all teeth damaged by trauma, caries, wear and cracked tooth syndrome. Covering diagnosis and assessment of options through to management. Techniques for intervention utilise a range of materials to replace missing tooth tissue, using a range of adhesive materials as well as traditional methods. Replacement of missing teeth is discussed. Hands-on sessions include tooth preparation, the use of posts and cores, dentine replacement materials, the use of adhesive bridges, direct and indirect composites. Part seminar with a lot of hands-on including treatment of a severe case (on models). This course is intended for General Dental Practitioners Professor Millar is a well-known speaker on the national and international circuit and in the media. Qualifying in 1980 in Dundee, his background includes NHS and private practice before moving into university and hospital posts. His areas of special interest include aesthetics and occlusion in which he has over 150 publications. He is an experienced teacher to undergraduates and postgraduates and well-known provider of continuing development courses for dentists in the UK as well as running numerous hands-on courses around the world for CPD. Dr Hussain is Senior Clinical Lecturer and Deputy Programme Director for the Blended Learning Fixed and Removable MClinDent degree at KCL Dental Institute and teaches on a number of KCL Masters programmes. She has delivered numerous lectures and hands-on courses on a wide range of topics including Tooth Wear, Occlusion, Gerodontology, Restoration of Broken and Cracked Teeth, Composites and Adhesives. Since qualifying from Leeds Dental Institute in 1991 she has worked in both NHS Dental Services and the Private Sector and currently practices in Buckinghamshire. She has a special interest in minimal intervention aesthetic techniques, managing older patients with failing dentitions, treatment of patients with severe tooth wear and all aspects of complex prosthodontic treatment in practice. |
