Otto Sparrius
Otto Sparrius qualified in South Africa, completing a research MSc from the University of Witwatersrand. He has publications in internationally recognised journals and in 1995 he presented a paper at the FDI conference in Hong Kong. He moved to the UK in April 2002 and worked in various UK dental practices. Otto was naturalised as a citizen on the UK in 2007.
Since 2009 Mr Sparrius has been employed as a Dental Tutor at the University of Portsmouth Dental Academy. He lectures to Hygiene/Therapy student and supervises dental students. Otto also has a particular interest in dental materials and Minimal Intervention Dentistry. Most recently he has completed his PG certificate in higher education and is now a member of FHEA

Claire Chambers
Claire Chambers accepted the post of Dental Tutor at the University of Portsmouth Dental Academy in 2006 and gained fellowship to the Higher Education Academy following completion of her PGCert LTHE. Claire is involved extensively in the clinical and academic teaching of restorative and paediatric dentistry and the increasing emphasis on minimal intervention techniques. Claire is continually developing her main interests: treatment of phobic patients and those with medical conditions that may alter or compromise the dental care provided. She currently incorporates this within the teaching of pharmacology and local anaesthesia and restorative dentistry, and aim to research further specific groups of patients to improve access to care and overall dental experience.
