| Description | This course has been organised with Specialty Trainers in mind and aims to educate and advise educational and clinical supervisors who are already or plan to be involved in training dental specialty registrars. It will address scenarios that can arise with dentists in difficulty as well as how to manage and support “difficult” trainees. Highly experienced expert speakers will be providing valuable input and answering any questions trainers may have. |
| Additional information | This course is suitable for Dental Specialty Trainers. Philip Farrar has over ten years' experience in employment law and acts for the NHS, local government and education bodies throughout England and Wales, including national organisations. He has acted for two NHS Trusts successfully resisting public interest disclosure claim, where over £2 million was claimed in damages. Costs were in fact paid by the consultant claimant. Phillip also advises and supervises team meetings in outsourcing and other contractual agreements with regards to TUPE matters, alongside conducting his own advocacy and providing training for clients. Often conducting his own advocacy and regularly lecturing, Philip has a national reputation advising NHS bodies in the Employment Tribunal, High Court and Administrative Court. Philip has also advised clients in relation to all aspects of employment law, but particular aspects include: • professional discipline regulation particularly as to employed doctors under the Maintaining High Professional Standards and its predecessor guidance; • executive disputes; • NHS vires; • whistle blowing; • unlawful discrimination; • NHS pensions and claims relating to misrepresentation and misstatement; • TUPE transfer and NHS merger and reorganisation; and • junior doctors and doctors in training Rosie Lusznat Rosie was a Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry since 1989 but retired from NHS clinical practice in November 2010. She was both a clinical and educational supervisor in her clinical service and has held a number of senior managerial roles including Locality Lead Clinician and Medical Director.Image of Rosie Lusznat In her educational capacity Rosie was Programme Director for Psychiatry prior to her appointment to the post of Associate Dean for Educational Development, Wessex Deanery in 2000, and in that role is currently responsible for: Professional support for doctors who find themselves in difficulty and Educational development of trainees and their educators in all specialties Rosie was a National Clinical Assessment Service (NCAS) Assessor for Old Age Psychiatry from 2005 - 2012 and has recently been appointed to the GMC Response to Concerns Assessment Team (RCAT). She is a member of the Kintampo Project which is a charitable project aimed at developing mental health services in Ghana and leads the educator development agenda. In 2005 she gained the MA in Education from the University of Winchester. |
