Professor Burke graduated from Queen’s University in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He worked in general practice from 1974 to 1992 in Manchester, also working in the Unit of Restorative Dentistry at the University of Manchester. Trevor has been Professor of Primary Dental Care at the University of Birmingham and Honorary Consultant in Restorative Dentistry since 2000.

  1. Generate a different diagnosis and treatment plan based on evidence through the correct interpretation of clinical findings.
  2. Remove carious tooth structure in preparation for restoration, using techniques which minimise unnecessary tooth damage and pulpal in
  3. Restore carious teeth to form, function and appearance using a wide range of restorative materials.
  4. Determine patients dentofacial aesthetic requirements, identify the degree to which they can be met, discuss different options and manage patient expectations.
  5. Understand which items treatment fall within NHS regulations and which do not. Discuss consequences of this with the patient in a manner they can understand.
