DescriptionThe objectives of this course are to provide an insight into the career paths available to dentists after DFT, and provide advice on job application and interview. Topics covered will include: *CV and interview techniques *General Dental Practice *Modern salaried services *Special care dentistry *Speciality training, specialist lists and pathways *Working abroad This course is intended for Dental Core Trainees Victoria Brown Following qualification I have undertaken VT/DF1 training in general practice. I have completed DF2 training at Southampton General Hospital as a maxillofacial SHO undertaking minor oral surgery under local anaesthetic and sedation, treatment of facial lacerations and dental abscesses in A&E, facial surgery under general anaesthetic and ward duties, which taught me a vast amount regarding medical management of patients and surgical skills. I subsequently have worked in the community dental service providing care to patients with special needs, dental phobia and complex paediatric patients, including care under general anaesthetic and sedation. At present I am working in general practice and undertaking ad hoc maxillofacial theatre sessions. I have completed the SAAD sedation training and have passed my MFDS. Jagdip Kalsi Jagdip Kalsi works as a Specialty Registrar in Restorative Dentistry at the Eastman Dental Hospital. Additional informationequently he worked as a Senior House Officer in Paediatric Dentistry at Guy’s, Restorative Dentistry at King’s College and Bristol Dental Hospitals, Oral Surgery at Bristol and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Southampton, whilst continuing to work during weekends and Bank Holidays in the Hampshire Emergency Dental Services.
He was then appointed as a Core Dental Trainee in Restorative Dentistry for one year at the Eastman, during which time he also worked in NHS practice. He then completed a full time taught Masters in Conservative Dentistry over one year at UCL Eastman Dental Institute, for which he was awarded both a Distinction and the 3M Postgraduate Prize for clinical and academic excellence. His research on porcelain veneers was also awarded a Distinction, and was presented at the International Association of Dental Research conference in Iguaçu Falls, Brazil. His next post was as a Specialty Doctor in Restorative Dentistry at Croydon University hospital, which he continued until he was appointed as a Locum Appointment for Training Specialty Registrar in Restorative Dentistry at Croydon and King’s College Hospital.
He has previously been involved with the Senior Registrars in Restorative Dentistry Group, and has presented posters at national and international conferences. His publications spread across several disciplines in dentistry.

Elizabeth Harris
Elizabeth graduated from the University of Bristol in 2008. Having intercalated in her thrid year of university she also graduated with a BSc in 2005. Since qualification she has been a full time member of the Fleet Dental Centre team. She is also involved in the postgraduate education of recently qualified dentist.
