DescriptionThis single day programme is designed to help all health care workers to appreciate the problems arising from oral cancer and their roles in reducing the current burden of disease.
Additional informationMo Patel qualified from the Royal London Hospital in 1972 in dentistry and subsequently from Kings College Hospital in medicine in 1981. He was awarded his fellowship in 1979. He was Head and Neck Cancer surgeon RBH until transfer of in-patient services to Oxford and Editor of textbook ‘Operative Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery’. He is a member of Medical Ethics Committee RBH, Law tutor to Royal College of Surgeons of England (Legal Aspects of Surgical Practice)and has acted as an expert witness to the courts. He has acted as Director Head and Neck Clinical Services Unit RBH and is a former Chair of the Medical Staff Committee RBH
The aim of the day is to provide delegates with an understanding of the scale of the current problem and their roles in ensuring improved outcomes.

Paul qualified from Liverpool in 1980 and has worked in all branches of Dentistry. He obtained his MSc in 1988 from Birmingham, and a PhD from the university of London in 1998. He holds Fellowships from FDS,FGDP and FPH. He acted as advisor to the Health Committee on their Inquiry into NHS dental services and is past President of the British Association for the Study of Community Dental Health. He was appointed as a Consultant in Dental Public Health in Berkshire West in 2010 and continues to work for both UCL and the Royal College in a number of capacities. He is also a member of the European Health Policy Group.
