DescriptionPatient handling techniques, communication and how to ensure effective patient understanding, communication within the dental team and within the FT group. The courses are framed around experiential training – performed sketches for discussion; forum theatre, individual role play and communication exercises.

Adam Porter is an NHS dental surgeon. He trained at Cardiff dental school and works in general practice in Rumney, Cardiff. He is also a trained professional actor, with a postgraduate diploma from the prestigious Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. He has appeared in many theatrical productions and has trained in using theatre as an educational tool, with Theatr Gwent, Hijinx Theatre, and Theatr Forum Cymru. Adam has been delivering the current Conflict Resolution course to NHS practices all over Wales since 2007, as well as postgraduate centres and community settings in England and Wales. Adam also regularly trains South Wales Primary Care Scheme for international dentists and people who have had a break, all of Wales' DFT groups and several schemes in England. Adam works on a freelance basis for Dental Protection.
