Additional informationGemma Chapman
I have had a keen interest in the dental profession from a young age. During academic holidays I worked as a dental nurse, this was at the time before you needed to be registered; after completing my A levels I went on to study Oral Health Science at the University of Manchester, gaining a BSc. I qualified as a Dental Hygienist/Therapist in July 2013. I am currently carrying out the Therapist Foundation Training scheme with the Oxford and Wessex Deanery, working with Peter Otzen at Westbridge Dental Practice in Oxford; it is a fast paced mixed practice where I am gaining invaluable experience.

I have carried out oral health education days with primary school children and given oral health education lectures to college students to help them with their education to children in Gambia. I have also given a lecture on Direct Access to the current TFT trainers. I find the idea of Direct Access very exciting and am currently working on writing a paper with Pam Kaur on the subject.
