DescriptionAM - Radiography - Getting the image The perfect course for those who do not need a full IRMER as it compares the differences between plain film and digital imaging. It will be relative to your responsibilities and will cover underpinning knowledge in radiography such as how both image receptors reveals the image for diagnosis, grading of radiographs, clinical audit and discussing quality assurance procedures attached to both.

This CPD course will go towards your medical emergency hours as you will learn the theory on how to monitor your patients during treatment sessions and in the event they become unwell. The content will make you feel more confident monitoring patients as it includes the relevance of monitoring patients, normal statistics for patients, methods of monitoring, and associated equipment.

Core CPD for DCP’s - Dental Nurses, Hygienists and Therapists
AM Radiography for those who are not required to do the full IRMER,
PM the afternoon can be used towards your core CPD for medical emergencies and is invaluable in gaining knowledge and confidence in monitoring your patients health.

Mrs. Nikki Rogers is a well known excellent lecturer and Author; She qualified as a Dental Nurse in 1982. She has also qualified in Post registration courses in Sedation, Radiography, and OHE. As a Dental Nurse Tutor at Bristol Dental Hospital she is involved in pre and post registration training and qualified CMI Cert Management, FEATC and V1 NVQ Assessor/Verifier. Chair of NEBDN Radiography Qualification. Author of Basic Guide to Dental Sedation Nursing Book and winning 2010 DDU Tutor of the year Award. Nikki is an enthusiastic supporter of DCP’s in their further education and expanding role.

  1. AM RADIOGRAPHY • Understand the difference between plain film and digital imaging • Process a plain film image receptor and change the processing solutions • Recognise some basic film faults if ever presented with them again
  2. • Discuss the quality assurance associated with both plain film and digital imaging • Understand their role as an IRMER Operator who doesn’t take X-rays
  3. PM Patient Monitoring/Intro to Sedation • Confidently monitor a patient in the event of a medical emergency arising in the dental surgery and recognise any associated equipment
  4. • Understand the reasons why patients receive a method of conscious sedation to receive dental treatment • Know the forms that conscious sedation take and how they act on the body
