DescriptionThe morning lecture is suitable for Dental Nurses and other DCP’s who assist those taking X-rays (but do not take X-rays themselves). This course Includes standard and digital radiography covering aspects of processing, mounting and safe storage in relation to Infection Control and Confidentiality, discussing relevant aspects of the associated regulations, radiation protection, quality assurance and quality control.
Additional informationFocus of the afternoon is in providing the underpinning knowledge of Medical Emergencies (please note this is not a hands on CPR course) and looks at DCP’s role in recognising signs and symptoms of the unwell patient and how to deal with medical emergencies in the dental practice.
Both courses allow for question and answer opportunities.

GDC 107582 Dental Nurse Tutor for pre and post registration training at Bristol Dental Hospital, Chairperson for NEBDN Radiography post qualification. Teaching the Dental Nurse Sedation and Radiography post qualification at Bristol.
Nikki Rogers first qualified as a DSA in 1982 and holds NEBDN Nat. Cert, and post qualifications in Sedation, Radiography and OHE. As a Dental Nurse Tutor at Bristol Dental Hospital she is involved in pre and post registration training and qualified CMI Cert Management, FAETC and V1 NVQ Assessor/Verifier.
Chair of NEBDN Radiography post qualification and winning DDU Tutor of the year in 2010, she is a busy wife, mother, and author enthusiastically supporting DCPs in their further education.

Aims
  1. Understand the difference between plain film and digital imaging recognising some basic film faults if ever presented with them again
  2. Be aware of the quality assurance procedures surrounding plain film and digital imaging.
  3. Recognise mechanisms that can be put into place to minimise the prevalence of a medical emergency occurring in the dental surgery
  4. Be able to identify the contents of an emergency drugs kit knowing which drug is used for which condition
