DescriptionThis HANDS-ON course will cover aspects of minor oral surgery relevant to the GDP including: * Overview of minor oral surgery in general dental practice * Management of the medically compromised patient needing minor oral surgery * Effective local anaesthesia * Simulated oral surgery procedures on models * Hands-on training in flap design, bone removal and suturing on models * Case selection. Oral surgery practices will be performed on Oral Surgery Jaw Models in the well-equipped Dental Simulation Suite, Kadoorie Skills centre Oxford JRH. The course is run in an informal setting where questions and debate are actively encouraged. Delegates are encouraged to bring radiographs of MOS referrals that 'haven't met the criteria for referral to secondary care' and/or cases they would like to discuss with our speakers. Please ensure that all patient data is anonymised. This course is one of a number of courses designed to provide an introduction to NHS dentistry and is essential for dentists who are undertaking Vocational Training by Assessment. This course is also suitable for dentists who are new to the NHS and dentists returning to NHS practice. Other dentists can book to attend if places remain available 14 days in advance of the course. Catherine Sternberg BDS FDS RCS, GDC 69527 is a Lead Consultant Oral Surgeon and works in both hospital and practice.
