DescriptionIt is a statutory requirement for anyone working with children to update their knowledge of legislation and guidance, and maintain the ability to act on concerns about the safety and welfare of children and young people.
Additional informationThe government guidance suggests that refresher training should take place very three years.
This course is for any member of the dental team that has previously attended a “safeguarding children” course including the whole dental practice team : Dentists , Dental nurses, Student dental nurses, Therapists, Hygienists, Clinical Dental Technicians and Dental Technicians.
The speaker is Lindsay Voss, Designated Nurse for Safeguarding Children and Safeguarding Children Team Manager In 2007 Lindsay was appointed the Designated Nurse for Safeguarding Children and Safeguarding Children Team Manager, and has continued to work closely with health professionals and colleagues from other agencies through membership of the Local Safeguarding Children Board.
She currently works for Southampton PCT and manages a team of specialist nurses including the Designated Nurse for Children in Care.

  2. Delegates will understand the term “child protection” and recognise the legal and policy framework in relation to safeguarding children.
  3. Delegates will understand the categories of abuse and recognise potential indicators of abuse.
  4. Delegates will learn the appropriate actions to take if concerned about possible abuse.
