DescriptionThis course will cover: * How Clinical Governance underpins the quality assurance programme regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) * Information and other governance for healthcare * The CQC's role in regulating the dental profession * Key pillars of quality * Clinical audit * Risk management * Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need (IOTN) and patient referral. This course is one of a number of courses designed to provide an introduction to NHS dentistry and is essential for dentists who are undertaking Vocational Training by Assessment. This course is also suitable for dentists who are new to the NHS and dentists returning to NHS practice. Other dentists can book to attend if places remain available 14 days in advance of the course. Verna Easterby-Smith BDS MSc, GDC 56097 is the Clinical Commissioning Lead (Dental) - Wessex Area Team, NHS England, a Specialist Clinical Dental Lead - Solent NHS Trust and the Dental Tutor - Winchester and Basingstoke, Wessex Deanery, Health Education England. Verna qualified at the Royal London Hospital in 1981, obtained her MSc in Gerodontics in 1986 and is on the GDC Specialist lists for Prosthodontics and Special Care Dentistry. She completed her Mentor training through the Wessex Deanery in 2011 and has worked as a locum practice inspector for CQC. Noel Davies BDS Dip Med Ed, GDC 57726 has been a GDP for 30 years, having graduated from Dundee University in 1983. He is the Principal of a three-dentist practice in Southampton,
Additional informationcredited with BDA Good Practice status, and a serving DFT Trainer for the Portsmouth scheme. Noel is also the Training Programme Director for Vocational Training by Assessment - Wessex area and a GDP Appraiser for Hampshire. He has recently completed the Deanery sponsored Mentoring course and gained his Diploma in Medical Education from Winchester University.
