Dr Eileen Gorrod BM DRCOG DCH FRCGP was a General Medical Practitioner 1981 to 2012 and heavily involved in GP education for the last 30 years. In 2002, Eileen was invited to initiate and develop GMP appraisal for her local PCT. From the outset, she was keen that busy practitioners should recognise appraisal as a valuable tool in the process of professional development and, in 2009, published a paper on its positive impact. Since 2011, Eileen has also been involved in appraisal for GDPs and is now working with the Dental Deanery in delivering for the patients and local practitioners in Wessex.

Dr Stephanie Hughes BSc (Hons) BMBCh (Oxon) MRCGP Cert Med Ed MAcadMEd is a GP Principal and Partner at the Homewell Practice in Havant. She is also the Course Organiser in Primary Care at the School of Medicine, Southampton University, a GP appraiser and the Clinical Lead, Primary Care Research Network (SW) East Hub. Her areas of special interest are undergraduate medical student teaching and research into primary care. In addition, Stephanie is now working with the Dental Deanery on the development of a widespread, valuable, quality-assured appraisal programme for dentists in the local area.
