DescriptionThis course is intended as an update for the whole dental team. Aims: This full day seminar core CPD course is suitable for all members of the dental team. Caroline Pankhurst will provide an update on all the new national guidance measures and legislation for infection prevention & control and decontamination and how they can be implemented in your practice. The topics covered by the course include infection control, occupational health, sharps management, use of PPE, instrument and equipment decontamination, environmental cleaning, clinical waste and waterline management.

Dr Caroline Pankhurst BSc PhD BDS MSc MRCPath (Specialist in Oral
Microbiology) was formerly a Clinical Senior Lecturer, Oral Microbiology, KCL
Dental Institute. Now she is actively involved in postgraduate dental education. She
is a freelance infection control consultant to NHS Southwark, Lambeth and Lewisham
and advised the Southern Health Board, Northern Ireland for many years. She is the
author of “Control of Infection Guidelines for General Dental Practice” now in its
fourth edition, and is the co-author of a new book entitled “Basic Guide to Prevention
and Infection Control in Dentistry”. She is a member of the SAC in Medical
Microbiology and a Trustee of the Fungal Research Trust.
