DescriptionThis one day comprehensive “hands-on course” will provide overview of the causes of endodontic disease and its treatment. The speaker will describe the materials, techniques and equipment available to the general dental practitioners to enable participants to undertake root canal therapy on permanent teeth with confidence. The following topics will be covered: *Microbiological aetiology of root canal infection *Access and anatomy of the root canal *Chemical cleaning of the whole root canal system *Preparation from the crown to the apex- Crown down technique *Balanced force technique *Working length determination *Using variable taper NiTi hand and rotary instruments *System B obturation ALL PARTICIPANTS ARE REQUIRED TP BRING A MINIMUM OF THREE MOLAR TEETH ACCESSED READY FOR ROOT CANAL TREATMENT. WHEN THE CANALS ARE LOCATED THEY MUST ONLY BE INSTRUMENTED WITH A NUMBER 10 HAND FILE. NO FURTHER PREPARATION OF THE ROOT CANAL SHOULD BE CARRIED OUT. THE TEETH NEED TO BE STORED WET/DAMP IN ANTISEPTIC AND MUST NOT BE MOUNTED. PARTICIPANTS SHOULD ALSO BRING MAGNIFYING LOUPES IF USED IN PRACTICE.
