| Description | The day will comprise a combination of presentations and case studies, which will be discussed in small groups initially, then by the whole course. The main theme of the day will be non-surgical management of periodontitis, including new treatment techniques, the use of antimicrobials and the management of furcation defects and endo-perio lesions. |
| Additional information | The course should enable participants to: 1. Choose an appropriate treatment approach for individual patients. 2. Use of antimicrobials in a rational and evidence-based way. 3. Manage furcation lesions. 4. Manage perio-endo lesions. This training can be used as part of practice evidence to demonstrate compliance with CQC outcomes 11, 12, 13 and 14. Phil has presented on previous occasions on aetiology and treatment planning of periodontitis. The most important aspect of management of periodontal diseases lie in its non-surgical approach and Phil will be presenting on this particular aspect of management. Phil ower qualified from King’s London in 1978. He joined the RAF after qualifying and was a GDP until taking an MSc. In Periodontology in 1992. After leaving the RAF he lectured at the Eastman Dental Institute and worked in several specialist practices. For 10 years he worked alongside Bernie Kieser at the periodontal practice in London and now practices at the Briars Dental Centre in Newbury. He has been an examiner for Royal College of Surgeons of England (MGDS) and has served two terms on the Council of the British Society of Periodontology. Phil has had papers published in the Journal of Clinical Periodontology, Dental Update, Dental Practice and Independent Dentistry and is a Module Editor on the e-Den project for e-learning for healthcare. He lectures throughout UK and is responsible for the perio component of the FGDP (UK) Diploma in Restorative Dentistry both in London and Manchester. For Dentists and Dental Care Professionals. |
