| Aims | - Identify from the patient upon examination, the symptoms and principal complaint, and any relevant history
- Assess dental, skeletal and occlusal relationships in the primary, mixed and permanent dentition accurately, and identify conditions which may require treatment or referral onwards
- Understands which items of treatment fall within NHS regulations* and those which do not, and can discuss the consequences of this with the patient in a manner he or she can understand.
- Is willing to communicate with other professionals when appropriate in order to obtain additional information and/or treatment for the patient. The trainee can demonstrate the ability to refer patients for specialised treatment or advice in a manner that
causes the least anxiety possible.
Determine patients’ dentofacial aesthetic requirements, identify the degree to which they can be met, discuss the different options, and manage patient expectations.
