DescriptionThis mandatory course for VTA trainers and trainees will cover: • VTA forms and guidance • Portfolio of evidence to demonstrate competency against the Committee of Postgraduate Deans and Directors (COPDEND) requirements • Personal Development Plans (PDPs) • Clinical audit • Critical reflection in everyday practice. This course is one of a number of courses designed to provide an introduction to NHS dentistry and is essential for dentists who are undertaking Vocational Training by Assessment. This course is also suitable for dentists who are new to the NHS and dentists returning to NHS practice. Other dentists can book to attend if places remain available 14 days in advance of the course. Noel Davies graduated from Dundee University Dental School in 1983 and has been a GDP ever since, setting up his own dental practice in Southampton in 1983. Noel is the Training Programme Director VTA – Wessex Deanery; he also works as a Dental Foundation year 1 trainer and is an appraiser for the SHIP PCT Cluster. Manish Chitnis BDS MFGDP MFDS, GDC 102053 has been in general dental practice for 16 years and is a hands-on Practice Owner in Hampshire. Manish holds a Certificate in Business Management Skills in Dentistry and has a particular interest in clinical governance, lecturing on this topic at postgraduate level. Manish is also the Clinical Manager for a Dental Corporate, VTA trainer and the Training Programme Director VTA – Oxford Deanery.
