DescriptionThis course is one of a number of courses designed to provide an introduction to NHS dentistry, essential for dentists who are undertaking vocational training by assessment, and who are expected to provide a portfolio of evidence for assessment against vocational training by assessment competencies determined by COPDEND and leading to a certificate of Vocational Training.
Additional informationTrainers and Trainees will be required to attend this one day module.

The course will cover:
• A thorough understanding of the guidance published for the trainers under the VTA scheme.
• An understanding for the development of evidence portfolio for Vocational training by assessment.
• An understanding of the personal development plan and how to design one.
• The importance of Audit and its importance in clinical duties.
• An understanding of reflective writing in day to day practice.

Speakers:
Mr Manish Chitnis, BDS MFGDP RCS London MFDS RCPS Glasgow, GDC 102053 is the hands-on Practice Owner/VTA Trainer of Dental Concepts in Hampshire, with a special interest in clinical governance and quality management. Manish qualified from Bristol University in 1996 and holds a Certificate of business management skills in dentistry. He has been the Clinical Manager of a Dental Body Corporate for the last 6 years, responsible for the professional training of up to 40 dentists at any one time. In addition, he manages the clinical governance frameworks for around 25 practices and has been lecturing on clinical governance and record keeping for the last 3 years.

Noel Davies is a training program director for VT by assessment in Wessex Deanery. Noel graduated from Dundee University Dental School in 1983 and has been practicing dentistry ever since. He worked at two surgeries before setting up his own dental practice in Southampton in1988.Noel is also a DFT Trainer and very experienced in general dental practice in NHS. Noel currently is doing advanced training for trainers.
