| Description | This course is one of a number of courses designed to provide an introduction to NHS dentistry, essential for dentists who are undertaking vocational training by assessment, to dentist who are new to NHS dentistry and for those who are returning to NHS dental practice. |
| Additional information | The day will provide both didactic teaching and interactive sessions on the management of this sometimes complex patient group. This course covers a GDC CPD core subject requirement and also covers CQC outcomes 2CE, 6A, 9ABCDEFGH, 13 and 14. The course will cover: • Revision of relevant medical conditions to include the following system disorders – hematology, cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, hepatic, renal, endocrine and psychiatric. • Handling of key medical emergencies in a dental practice. •How to manage a medically compromised patient. •When to refer to a Hospital care or to a consultant? Speakers: Catherine Sternberg - Consultant Oral Surgeon , Royal South Hants Hospital, Lead Consultant Oral Surgeon at the Royal South Hants Hospital, Catherine took over the running of the Oral Surgery service in September 2009. |
