DescriptionThis is an innovative, intensive six month programme designed to equip clinical members of Local Dental Professional Networks (LPN) with the basic knowledge and skills to effectively contribute to the commissioning, delivery, monitoring and improvement of dental services, oral health and patient outcomes across primary and secondary care.
Additional informationA three day taught programme, with follow up facilitated action learning sets at monthly intervals over six months in total. A blended learning approach will be used to include tutor support, self directed learning, simulation scenarios and case studies.

Speakers:
Dr. Caroline Drugan BDS, MSc, PhD.
Caroline graduated from dental school in 1987 and spent a year in general practice before undertaking a series of junior house jobs and a registrar job in oral medicine. She then undertook a Masters degree and PhD in oral pathology and oral cancer research and became a lecturer in oral medicine. In 2000, Caroline was appointed as a specialist registrar in dental public health with the local primary care trusts. On completion of specialist training she became a consultant in dental public health and then moved to academia. She now works at Bristol University as a consultant senior lecturer in dental public health where she works in a multidisciplinary team that principally researches life-course oral epidemiology, oral cancer and cleft lip and palate epidemiology.
Caroline teaches dental public health to undergraduate dental students. She supervises post-graduate students and looks after the dental academic trainees in the school.
In her role she works closely with the local primary care trusts both directly and through the DPH specialty registrar.
