| Additional information | The course is also suitable for dentists who are new to the NHS, and dentists who are returning to NHS dental practice. A course on the treatment of Periodontal Disease: This course is designed to provide delegates with an update on current materials and techniques for successful periodontal treatment. Delivered by local registered specialists in Periodontics, the course will inform and update those attending with information from the cutting edge of the field. It will also provide delegates with an opportunity to discuss matters relevant to them with locally based specialist in a relaxed and relatively informal gathering. This course will assist delegates to provide supporting evidence for CQC outcomes 6A, 9A, 13 and 14. This Course will cover: *Current concepts in Periodontal Examination, Diagnosis and Treatment Planning. *Current concepts in Non surgical management of periodontal disease. *Current concepts in Management of root caries from a bacteriological and biochemical standpoint. *Effective Hand instrumentation and effective Ultrasonic instrumentation of root surfaces in patients suffering from periodontitis. * Knowledge of current concepts learned at the lecture to the practical instrumentation of root surfaces. Speaker: Mr. Martin Ursell MSc Lond 1984, BChD Leeds 1974 Local Practitioner and Registered Specialist in Periodontics Has practised in the Southampton Region for a number of years. Martin has also taught on the periodontal component of the Certificate in Restorative Dental Practice course, at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute. Registered with the GDC as a specialist in Periodontics, Martin has for many years also lectured and provided "hands-on" periodontal courses in this region. 2. Mr. Richard Tucker MRD RCS Edin 2001, MFDS RCS Edin 2001, MClinDent Lond 1999, MSc Lond 1998, BDS Rand 1991 Background Richard Tucker qualified with BDS from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, in 1991. He then worked in private general dental practice in Kent, England, for 6 years. His first contact with the Eastman was through the Certificate course in Restorative Dentistry in 1996, which lead to his interest in specialist training. He moved to London to embark on 3 years of specialist training at the Eastman Dental Institute. In 2003, he started a specialist referral practice, limited to periodontics and the surgical aspects of implant dentistry, in Wimpole Street, London. Richard is married to Rowena, a Consultant Dermatologist. They love music, theatre and travel. They are also keen snow skiers. Above all, Richard is a good communicator and enthuses about treating patients using evidence based clinical expertise in a kind and empathetic manner.
