| Description | Medical emergencies in the dental setting are rare but, all members of the dental team must have a sound understanding of the theory behind emergency management and be able to provide Basic Life Support (BLS) so that they can deal quickly with uncommon but potentially tragic events. |
| Additional information | We are offering a two and a half hour evening course that follows the “Standards for Clinical Training for Dental Practitioners and Dental Care Professionals” and conforms to current Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines. This ‘hands-on’ practical training will provide core CPD hours in Basic Life Support. Our course includes: • The theory surrounding the recognition and treatment of common medical emergencies in dentistry • The ABCDE approach • ‘HANDS-ON’ PRACTICAL SESSION for all the team including the use and application of automatic external defibrillators • Emergency drug protocols. BLS training will be provided in a relaxed yet informative manner to support team members who require extra time and practice; repetition of procedures will enable participants to increase their skills and gain confidence. This training is intended to supplement practice-based training, not replace it. Attending this course will help dental practice staff to achieve compliance against CQC Outcome 4: Care and welfare of people who use services. This course is intended for the entire practice team: Dentists, Therapists, Hygienists, Nurses, Practice Managers, Receptionists, Business Managers, Clinical Dental Technicians, Dental Technicians.
