SubjectCore Skill
DescriptionMedical emergencies in the dental setting are rare but, all members of the dental team must have a sound understanding of the theory behind emergency management and be able to provide Basic Life Support (BLS) so that they can deal quickly with uncommon but potentially tragic events.
Additional informationWe are offering a two and a half hour evening course that follows the “Standards for Clinical Training for Dental Practitioners and Dental Care Professionals” and conforms to current Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines. This ‘hands-on’ practical training will provide core CPD hours in Basic Life Support.

Our course includes:
• The theory surrounding the recognition and treatment of common medical emergencies in dentistry
• The ABCDE approach
• ‘HANDS-ON’ PRACTICAL SESSION for all the team including the use and application of automatic external defibrillators
• Emergency drug protocols.

BLS training will be provided in a relaxed yet informative manner to support team members who require extra time and practice; repetition of procedures will enable participants to increase their skills and gain confidence. This training is intended to supplement practice-based training, not replace it.

Attending this course will help dental practice staff to achieve compliance against CQC Outcome 4: Care and welfare of people who use services.

This course is intended for the entire practice team: Dentists, Therapists, Hygienists, Nurses, Practice Managers, Receptionists, Business Managers, Clinical Dental Technicians, Dental Technicians.
