DescriptionCurrent best practice for general dental surgeries with regard to key issues to be compliant with the GDC, CQC. The day will be divided into sections to address the following areas: -
Additional information1) a review of infection control in the dental surgery, including how to make a risk assessment of the possible transmission of infectious diseases in the dental environment.
2) know how to keep up to date with Health and Safety and what it means to your practice.
3) clinical governance.

SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY:
Jo Russell needs no introduction for those of you who attend Deanery courses. If this is not you then Jo delivers a pragmatic and enjoyable approach to dealing with current dental practice issues. Jo has been in dentistry for 25 years and claims to have performed each role within the practice. Upon leaving the Royal Navy Jo went into Practice Management and latterly Area Practice Management. Jo gained a distinction for NEBOSH in Health and Safety and has her own training and consultancy business.

Aims
  1. Decontamination in a busy practice – getting it right – establishing good habits. To provide a comprehensive review of infection control in the dental surgery Objective: To provide all members of the dental team with a broad knowledge of infection control. To look at the management of the risk of transmission of infectious agents in the dental surgery. Objective: To enable the dental team to apply the latest standards (HTM 01-05) of IC in their own surgeries.
  2. To describe and summarise key issues relating to Health and Safety Law relevant to everyday dental practice and demonstrate how to carry out risk assessments – including COSHH – and report under RIDDOR.
  3. Know what is expected of each team member and when for Clinical Governance.
