DescriptionTrainers and Trainees will be required to attend this one day module. This course is one of a number of courses designed to provide an introduction to NHS dentistry, essential for dentists who are undertaking vocational training by assessment, and who are expected to provide a portfolio of evidence for assessment against vocational training by assessment competencies determined by COPDEND and leading to a certificate of Vocational Training.
Additional informationTrainers and Trainees will be required to attend this one day module.
The course will cover:
•A thorough understanding of the guidance published for the trainers under the VTA scheme.
•An understanding for the development of evidence portfolio for Vocational training by assessment.
•An understanding of the personal development plan and how to design one.
•The importance of Audit and its importance in clinical duties.
•An understanding of reflective writing in day to day practice.

Speakers:

Manish Chitnis
Manish is a General Dental Practitioner for last 15 years and currently working as a GDP in a NHS dental practice, He also works as a Training Program Director for the Vocational Training by Assessment scheme (Oxford and Wessex Deanery).He currently works one day a week as a Clinical Support Lead, managing Clinical Governance for the IDH dental group. Manish is a Trainer for VTA candidates and has also worked and lectures on the topic of Clinical Governance.

Noel Davies
Training Programme Director - VT by Assessment. Noel graduated from Dundee University Dental School in 1983 and has been practicing dentistry ever since. He worked at two surgeries before setting up Gentle Dental Care in Southampton in1988.
