DescriptionThis course is an update on Medical Emergencies in the Dental Surgery. This is based on the wider subject of medical emergencies as included in the GDC "core subjects" for CPD.
Additional informationThe evening lecture will cover subjects as: Anaphylaxis, Angina, Asthma, Cardiac Arrest, Epilepsy, Hypoglycaemia, Faints and others. The course duly covers GDC CPD core subject requirement and also satisfies CQC outcomes 4, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 14.

Aims
  1. To describe the management of medical emergencies in dentistry
  2. To describe initial treatment for each emergency and demonstrate how to assess an ill patient by using ABCDE approach
  3. To summarise the theory surrounding the recognition of common medical emergencies in dental practice.
  4. To summarise the appropriate medications that can be administered by dental staff and know when it is appropriate to call an ambulance.
