DescriptionThis essential course is ideally intended for general dental practitioners and their hygienist/therapist. The format of the day will be part seminar/hands-on and has been designed to help the dental team to:
Additional information• Diagnose periodontal disease using widely available devices and techniques
• Carry out periodontal risk assessment with confidence
• Know guidelines for evidence-based treatment modalities
• Undertake long-term treatment planning
• Know when to refer.

The practical session will take place in the phantom-head room in the afternoon and will enable delegates to practice their treatment planning and root debridement skills.

Attending this course will provide evidence to demonstrate compliance with some of the requirements of CQC Outcome 14: Supporting workers. Delegates will update their knowledge and clinical skills regarding modern periodontal practice.

Mr Alan Woodman is a Specialist in Periodontics and holds a Dental Tutor appointment at the University of Portsmouth Dental Academy.

This course is ideally intended for general dental practitioners and their hygienist/therapist but, individual practitioners will also be most welcome and will buddy-up for the hands-on session in the afternoon.
