DescriptionA short lunchtime webinar, which will summarise key aspects of management of haemostasis in general dental practice. Our speaker is Dr Vaidayanathan Murugaraj BDS MFDS RCS (Eng) FFD RCSI Oral Surgery Oral Medicine: Raj is a part time specialty doctor in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the Royal Berkshire Hospital and otherwise works in general practice, limited to oral surgery. As well as running very popular hands-on courses that get excellent reviews, Raj has published a number of articles in peer reviewed journals and is a reviewer of oral surgery papers published in international journals.

Aims

The aim of this short course is to provide a brief overview of post-extraction hemorrhage and its management, so as to improve outcomes for patients

Objectives

1. Outline the mechanism of haemostasis.

2. Discuss the relevance of medical and drug history

3. Describe effective methods of achieving haemostasis.

4. To discuss management of patients with anti-platelets and anti-coagulants

5. To discuss the current guidelines for management of patients on new oral anticoagulants

Learning outcomes

 By the end of this course, learners should be able to

2. Demonstrate best practice in achieving haemostasis.
