DescriptionThe 1st 'Teeth for Life' BUCKS ORAL HEALTH STUDY DAY. The First of a planned annual update - primarily put together for Nurses/Hygienists/Therapists/OHE Educators/Students.
Additional informationThe day starts off with a first class lecture in periodontics by Miss Zainab Malaki BDS MFDS RCS (Eng) MclinDent Perio MRD RCS (Ed) Specialist Periodontist.

This is followed by a representative from the National Oral Health Promotion Group Mrs Karen Gonzalez, who will give us insight into the role of the organisation. The history of the National Oral Health Promotion Group. Karen will also assist with presentation of Certificates to a group of successful Deanery students.

The afternoon speaker Tessa Meese is a well respected speaker, who takes us through the 'Delivering Better Health Toolkit'. Get first hand tips into this valuable tool that is probably just sitting on your shelf!

Aims
  1. Identify the role of the Hygienist/Therapist in screening patients for periodontal disease and periodontal record keeping. The use of diagnostic tests by Hygienists/Therapists, in periodontal patients. Identify how to involve the Hygienist/Therapist and Nurse in delivering OHI and maintenance therapy. Determine that team working with a specialist in providing the best periodontal treatment tailored to the patient's needs and making it cost effective for the patients is effective.
  2. Identifty the role of the National Oral Health Promotion Group. To explain how to become a member and its benefits.
  3. At the end of the training, all participants will feel confident and able to use the current scientific messages outlined ni the Toolkit - Delivering Better Oral Health. Participants will be able to explain evidenced based oral health messages to their service users. Participants will have an increased knowledge of Delivering Oral Health.
