 Raj's post-graduate training in the United Kingdom has provided extensive exposure in the field of oral surgery, and he was awarded the membership from the Royal College of Surgeon’s England and successfully attained Fellowship from the Royal College of surgeon’s Ireland in oral surgery with oral medicine, confirming his academic knowledge and experience in the field. He endeavours to give his best input to deliver precise and informative lectures in order to reach individuals with varied levels of exposure in the field of oral surgery. Due to his academic interest and passion towards teaching, this opportunity and responsibility has given him encouragement to update his knowledge regularly. He has also attended relevant courses in teaching and mentoring to improvise his teaching skills.

Aims

To Improve General Dentist’s minor oral surgical skills

To boost confidence in non-forceps techniques for extraction in selected cases

Objectives

To provide informative lecture to assist in minor oral surgery for the GDP, including patient assessment, care planning and instrument selection.

To discuss the types and appropriate use of elevators and luxator in specific situation

Learning outcomes

Able to apply the principles of elevation techniques in patient management for safe and effective hard and soft tissue surgery, in general dental practice.

Reflect and carry out the steps involved, so as to gain confidence in removing teeth and roots in a safe and effective manner and reduce Dento-alveolar referrals to secondary care
