Description     This course is designed to give all members of the Dental Team the knowledge and skills required to give confidence in the field of child protection. The course will be partly lecture-based, and partly group-work exercises to enable participants to test their knowledge in the subject. Training will be base on the booklet produced by the Department of Health in 2009 - “Child Protection and the Dental Team - an Introduction to Safeguarding Children in Dental Practice.
Additional informationAll dental practices will need to demonstrate compliance with Outcome 7 for CQC on Safeguarding Children, and delegates on this course will gain the necessary knowledge to help demonstrate this.

Aims
  1. To be aware of practice responsibilities with respect to child protection.
  2. To be able to recognise presenting features of child abuse and neglect.
  3. To understand the role of dental practices within current multi-agency child protection procedures, and to be motivated and enabled to follow these correctly.
  4. To be able to participate in further multi-agency training, and to know where to find additional sources of support and advice.
