DescriptionThe course will cover: •Ionising radiation (policies & regulations) and the Law •Relevant aspects of IRR 1999 and IRMER 2000 for DCP’s •Role of the IRMER Operator •X-Ray Damage and Radiation Protection •Quality Assurance & Film Faults •Digital & Manual X-ray techniques •Feedback & evaluation This course is intended for DCP’s (Dental nurses, dental therapists, dental hygienists & dental technicians) N.B This is NOT an IRMER update course for DCP’s who have their post qualification radiography certificate. This is a CPD core subject basic course.

Aims

  2. To be able to summarise legislation, justification, optimisation and limitation.
  3. To demonstrate understanding by working within the laws of an ‘Operator’ and recognise others roles.
  4. Recognise the importance of dose limitation & annual dose limits for the worker & the damage that could occur. Be able to take part in quality assurance & recognise film faults & prevention.
