DescriptionThis evening is entirely devoted to Dental Nurses and Student Dental Nurses. These monthly meetings have been set up for Dental Nurses in the south region (Ox/Bucks/Berks/Hamps/I.O.W) to give Dental Nurses an ability to network and share ideas through open discussion, support their wellbeing, plus be empowered to progress and further their career if they wish to do so. This short webinar follows on from a previous look at the role of the Orthodontic Therapist and how working within general dental practice may differ from Hospital based setting. GDC Development Outcomes B & C.

Anna Sarbatta is Currently an Orthodontic Therapist in the NHS Trust at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. Having gained the Diploma in Orthodontic Therapy RCSEd in 2017. She previously qualified as a Dental Nurse and has over 12 years experience in the dentistry.

Aim of the Forum - The forum has been set up to give dental nurses an ability to network and have support for wellbeing plus be empowered to progress and further their career.

To look at how Orthodontic Therapy differs from general dental practice Vs Hospital based setting.

Objectives

Outline key differences in the 2 sectors of primary and secondary care.

Discuss perceptions of the role in two different settings and ‘A Day in The Life of a private and NHS practice’.

Consider complex cases dealt with via secondary care eg: hypodontia, oral surgery, road traffic accidents, dealing with high security patients.

Learning outcomes

Apply knowledge obtained in the talk to gain further of the role of a Orthodontic Therapist.

Have learnt differences between primary and secondary care.

Will have knowledge of complex cases involvement and career progression post qualification.
