Description: This event is held in two parts. There is a half-day group-training event which explores the impact of trauma on oral health with a focus on the importance of trauma-informed care in dental practice with the incorporation of reflective exercises. This is followed by an introduction to the core principles of trauma-informed care and demonstrations of the salient skills to incorporate into best-practice. Skills are practiced in role-play exercises with other attendees. These are reflected upon in situ and refined through further practice. After the training session, some time will be provided for practice teams to meet and discuss their experiences of patient care, both in terms of inclusion health dentistry and more widely. It will be an opportunity for troubleshooting, sharing examples of best practice, and building peer support networks.
