DescriptionTwo-day hands-on clinical course suitable for Dental Therapists to help them provide predictable direct anterior and posterior composite restorations. It will provide an update on the development of direct restorative materials for anterior and posterior use including bulkfil composites and amalgam alternatives. It will also address the reasons of early failures of resin composite including understanding of modern bonding materials, polishing systems and LED light curing unit. Hands-on sessions will focus on build-up techniques for the anterior teeth and restorations of posterior teeth with resin composites.

Aims

To provide an update on the development of direct restorative materials suitable for anterior and posterior teeth as well as an update on bonding materials, polishing systems and LED lights. The hands-on sessions will provide tips on how to produce successful anterior and posterior restorations with modern bulk fill composites.

Objectives
  • Understand modern composite materials, bonding systems and new polishing techniques.
  • Be able to use modern materials to produce high quality anterior and posterior composite restorations.
  • Understand the light curing process and the factors that could influence the curing of resin composites.
  • Have had a chance to use sectional matrices to help provide the perfect contact point for posterior restorations.
Learning outcomes
  1.  Delegates will have an update on the direct restorative materials available for anterior and posterior restorations and the factors that influence their clinical success.
  2.  Delegates will also have further understanding of how to effectively use and maintain LED light curing units.
  3.  Delegates will also be provided with clinical tips and techniques to help them improve their anterior and posterior composite restorations.
